Penn Medicine's thoracic radiologists are board certified, and subspecialty or fellowship trained in chest imaging. They have made major contributions in the development and technological advancement of:
- Computed tomography (CT)
- Conventional radiography
- Interventional radiology
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Positron emission tomography (PET)
- Radionuclide imaging
Penn Medicine's chest-imaging services are located within Penn Lung Center at the Ruth and Raymond Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. Being in the same physical space allows the chest radiologists, pulmonologists and thoracic surgeons to collaborate more easily on diagnosis and treatment options for patients, leading to improved patient outcomes.
