Michael Restuccia
Vice President, CIO
Profile of Michael Restuccia

Michael Restuccia is the Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Penn Medicine, a $4.3 billion health care provider organization consisting of over 2,000 physicians providing services to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, Chester County Hospital and the health system network that serves the city of Philadelphia, the surrounding five county area and parts of southern New Jersey.

He was recognized in May, 2012, as one of Information Week's top 25 Healthcare CIO's. He also received a Smart CXO award, as a leading CIO, from Philadelphia Smart CEO Magazine in March, 2012. Mr. Restuccia was recognized for his leadership in maintaining and building on Penn Medicine's implementation of technology and innovation to advance patient care.

Mr. Restuccia has over twenty-five years of healthcare information technology experience and has worked nearly all his career in the healthcare information technology provider, vendor and consulting services industries. Prior to joining Penn Medicine in 2008, Mr. Restuccia served as President of MedMatica Consulting Associates, a healthcare information technology consulting firm that has been recognized as a three time recipient of the Inc. Magazine 5,000 Fastest Growing, Privately Held Companies in the US and the Philadelphia 100 Fastest Growing, Privately Held Companies in the Philadelphia region. While at MedMatica, Mr. Restuccia served as the Interim Chief Information Officer for several healthcare organizations including Phoenixville Hospital, Doylestown Hospital and the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Prior to MedMatica, Mr. Restuccia has also served in leadership roles with several other healthcare information technology firms including First Consulting Group and Shared Medical Systems (now Siemens).

Mr. Restuccia achieved a Bachelor in Science degree from Rider University and a Masters in Business Administration from Villanova University. Mr. Restuccia is a Board Member for the HealthShare Information Exchange, a member of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group (GPSEG) and serves as an advisory committee member for the Healthcare IT Institute and Information Week.

John P. Mr. Donohue is a seasoned health care IT Executive with over 20 years of experience which includes: extensive senior executive and customer interaction, understanding complex business requirements, identifying technology solutions, developing and executing IT strategic plans. He is recognized as a proactive leader who builds and develops high performance teams that are committed to excellence in the delivery of IT services and solutions.

Prior to joining Penn Medicine, John held IT vice president roles at both Covance (a $4 billion Clinical Research Organization) and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (Number one ranked Pediatric Hospital in the country). John holds a BS in Business Management from University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Information Technology at Rutgers.

Brian Wells

Brian Wells is the Associate Vice President of Health Technology and Academic Computing at Penn Medicine, a $4.3 billion health care provider organization consisting of over 2,000 physicians providing services to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, Chester County Hospital and the health system network that serves the city of Philadelphia, the surrounding five county area and parts of southern New Jersey.

Mr. Wells joined Penn Medicine in September, 2007 and is currently responsible for software development along with academic computing informatics and infrastructure. Previously at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia he was the Project Director of two large Epic implementations – Patient Access/Revenue Cycle and Specialty Care. Beginning in 1997 he was the founder and Chief Technology Officer of InteHealth Incorporated. For eight years prior to that he was the CTO of GMIS, Inc. and led the development and support of 11 expert system software products for the payor market. Previously, his nine years of software development and support experience at Siemens (SMS) provided him extensive management background in all aspects of healthcare product development.

Mr. Wells earned his MBA from Villanova and his undergraduate Computer Systems degree from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Tom has 35 years of health care IT experience. He began his career in health care at Baptist Memorial Health System (Memphis TN) where he was responsible for IT systems that delivered patient access, inpatient and outpatient billing, general financials, HR, Pharmacy, Medical Records and government reporting. Tom spent the next 20 years working for Siemens Healthcare (formerly SMS) and GE Healthcare where he held several executive roles in R&D, professional services, networking and medical imaging software solutions. More recently, Tom was the COO of a global medical imaging start up business.

Tom earned his MBA at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a BS in Management and Computer Science from Plymouth State University (NH).

Sharon obtained an MBA from Regis University, a BS in Information Systems from St. Joseph's University, a CAPM certification from the Project Management Institute, and a Reiki Practitioner certification from The Reiki School and Clinic. She has 29 years of experience in healthcare information technology, including Penn Medicine and the Philadelphia Naval Hospital.

Experiences include large-scale system implementations (EMR, Radiology and Cardiology PACS) and hospital merger and acquisitions.

André Jenkins

Profile of Andre Jenkins

André Jenkins is the Senior Director of Penn Medicine Academic Computing Services (PMACS), the information technology organization for the Perelman School at Penn Medicine.

The Perelman School is the oldest and one of the finest medical schools in the United States, with over 1,900 full time faulty, 725 medical students, and 3,100 full-time employees.

André has over twenty-three years of information technology (IT) experience, with the majority in healthcare IT. Prior to his current role, André served as the Entity Information Officer for the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), the flagship hospital of Penn Medicine. He has also held senior-level positions in several healthcare organizations including the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Independence Blue Cross.

André earned his MBA, Finance, and BBA, Economics, from Temple University.

Esther Sim is the Entity Information Officer of ambulatory practices Penn Medicine, a $4.3 billion healthcare provider organization consisting of over 2,000 physicians providing services to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, Chester County Hospital and the health system network that serves the city of Philadelphia, the surrounding five county area and parts of southern New Jersey.

Esther is responsible for oversight of information technology activities for all ambulatory practices – approximately 1,800 physicians and 250 practice locations.

In her prior position she was the Director of Information Services at one of the largest Cardiovascular Practices in the Delaware Valley area. Expertise includes implementing a new practice management system, electronic medical records system, e-prescribing and quality measure reporting.

She has over 10 years' experience in the health care technology industry and holds a BS in Psychology from Ursinus College.

Prior to joining Penn Medicine in 2008, Linda held a variety of leadership positions within Siemens Health Services and SMS (Shared Medical Systems): Research and Development Product Manager for Critical Care; Regional Manager of the National Health Systems with a focus on implementations, account management and sales support; Southern Area Support Manager and Outsourcing Manager for the Philadelphia Veteran's Hospital.

Linda earned her undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Drexel University. Linda is pursuing Masters of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Organizational Dynamics.

Christine VanZandbergen, MPH, MS PA-C is the Associate CIO of Clinical Applications at Penn Medicine, a $4.3 billion health care provider organization consisting of over 2,000 physicians providing services to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Pennsylvania Hospital, Chester County Hospital and the health system network that serves the city of Philadelphia, the surrounding five county area and parts of southern New Jersey.

Ms. VanZandbergen joined Penn Medicine in June, 2002 as a Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant. She is currently responsible for defining the strategic direction and providing leadership for the implementation and support of clinically related applications. Christine oversees the development of clinical applications through short and long-term goal setting, assessment of information technology needs, and information systems integration, IT business operations, risk analyses, security, applications development, database management, user and system support, and related operations.

Ms. Vanzandbergen previously led the development and implementation of clinical decision support tools from the ideation process, through pilot, and deployment across the health system in a multi-system EHR. Prior to assuming the role of CDS Officer, she held the role of Manager of Professional Practice and Development at Penn Presbyterian providing oversight for all advanced practice providers. She continues her clinical practice in Cardiac Surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital.

Ms. VanZandbergen earned her MS in Physician Assistant Studies from Seton Hall University and her MPH from Drexel University.
