The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Volunteers provides service to patients from all over the world in one of the nation's leading academic medical centers. Volunteers play an important role in patient satisfaction and add an extra dimension of personal service to our patients. The Hospital values every volunteer's generous gift of time and talent.
Volunteer Services offers volunteer opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction, while producing a well-deserved feeling of personal fulfillment for the volunteer. Volunteer services provides an environment that will enrich the lives of volunteers through service.
Traditional Volunteer Program ››
The Traditional Volunteer Program offers community members who are 18 years of age and older opportunities to:
- Interact with patients at various levels of care.
- Provide animal assisted therapy.
- Provide clerical or administrative support.
- Assist hospital team members in other ways that reinforce the hospital's mission of delivering extraordinary patient care.

Teen Volunteer Program ››
The Teen Volunteer Program provides high school students who are at least 14 years old with career exposure to a healthcare profession.
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania offers the Teen Volunteer Program from June to August. Parents/guardians can print an application from this website beginning March 20. The Teen Application deadline is June 4.

Nursing & Allied Health Volunteer Program ››
The Nursing & Allied Health Volunteer Program gives those pursuing a career in healthcare a chance to observe healthcare professionals at a premiere institution. The Nursing & Allied Health Volunteer Program welcomes those with an interest in:
- Nursing
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Healthcare Administration
- And more
The Nursing & Allied Health Volunteer Program does NOT accept students on a career path towards Medical School/Physician Assistant School. Applications will be open online February 10 to March 10 for the March to September session. Volunteers can apply online September 1 to October 1 for the October to February session.

Premed Volunteer Program ››
The Premed Volunteer Program provides those on a career path to medical school or physician assistant school an opportunity to gain valuable hospital experience and exposure to medicine.
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania accepts Premed Volunteer applications three times a year:
- August 10 – September 10 for the Fall Session (September to December)
- November 10 – December 10 for the Spring Session (January to May)
- March 10 – April 10 for the Summer Session (May to August)
