Breast Cancer Research Program

Program Leaders:

Penn Hematology/Oncology brings together investigators from diverse disciplines and focuses their collective energies on understanding, preventing and treating breast cancer. While genetics served as the focus for program development initially, there now is a wide cross-section of interactive investigators involved in many areas of breast cancer-related research. Interactive subgroups currently focus on four research areas:

  • Biological science
  • Genetic epidemiology
  • Breast imaging
  • Population science and prevention

The Rena Rowan Breast Center, a multidisciplinary clinical breast center that opened in November 2000, serves as the focus for all translational and clinical research projects.
