Quality and Outcomes at the Cardiac Arrhythmia Program

Quality & Outcomes

A Regional and National Leader in Heart Rhythm Disorders

The Electrophysiology (EP) program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) is the largest electrophysiology program on the east coast and one of the two largest single-hospital programs in the country.

The electrophysiology team at HUP is comprised of 15 board-certified electrophysiologists, and 20 dedicated nurse practitioners and physician assistants. These individuals provide consultation to cardiovascular specialists throughout Penn Medicine and its affiliates to select appropriate patients for catheter and surgical ablation therapy for atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) and ventricular tachycardia (VT). The team uses a variety of novel imaging tools, ablation strategies and devices to facilitate the management of simple and complex arrhythmia disorders.

HUP’s electrophysiologists are international leaders in the field with more than 600 peer-reviewed scientific publications in the last 12 years and many of their pioneering techniques used around the world.
