Device Lead Extraction Expertise
The EP program at HUP is among the few in the country experienced in implantable defibrillator lead extraction. Fractured or malfunctioning ICD leads are a common reason for device replacement, which increases the risk of complications. The team is pursuing research in lead extraction that may result in expanded indications for the use of ICDs, as well as improved safety for patients.
