Hoagies (sometimes called "subs" in other parts of
the country) are another popular Philadelphia choice.
They're made from assorted meats, cheeses or vegetable
toppings on an Italian roll.
We evaluated an Italian hoagie from a popular chain.
This sandwich was heavy, carrying 1/2 pound of meat
and cheeses. Ingredients included three types of ham,
provolone cheese, salami, sliced tomato, raw onions,
shredded lettuce, sweet peppers, oil and vinegar and
mayonnaise.
This sandwich also tipped the scales when it came
to calories, too; it has about 1440 calories and 90
grams of fat.
No question: Italian hoagies offer a good taste sensation,
but you might want to split one with a friend!
Note: Be aware that ingredients and cooking methods
can vary, so the foods you order may not match these
nutritional counts exactly.
