Understanding financial matters when considering diagnosis, treatment and care is an important for patients and families to take. Penn Global Medicine works with the patient to educate them on payment processes as this will eliminate any unexpected fees and enable the patient to best prepare for care at Penn Medicine.
It is Penn Medicine's policy to collect 100 percent of an international self-paying patient's estimated fee prior to confirming the appointment(s) or procedures. For convenience, Penn accepts credit cards and wire transfers.
Forms of Payment
There are three main forms of payment an international patient may present. Please contact the Penn Global Medicine office for more information about each payment type:
- International Insurance
- Government Sponsored
It is necessary for all international patients to be registered with Penn Global Medicine. All patients presenting with international insurance coverage must obtain authorization from the office of Penn Global Medicine prior to attending appointments.
Patients are responsible for paying all co-payments and deductibles to the office of Penn Global Medicine prior to the scheduled date of service.
For self-pay patients, a financial deposit is required at least 48 hours prior to an appointment date. Please contact the Penn Global Medicine office prior to an appointment to ensure that all financial responsibilities are fulfilled.
Follow Up Care and Surgery
If a patient has been scheduled for additional services or if the patient is a surgical candidate and is scheduled for surgery, then the patient must promptly contact the Penn Global Medicine office after the initial appointment to ensure efficient insurance verification prior to the date of surgery.
All cancellation requests must be received by the office of Penn Global Medicine 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. Cancellation fees may apply. Patients must contact the Penn Global Medicine office to cancel or reschedule appointments.
