Giving Societies

Benjamin Franklin Society

Founded in 1955, the Benjamin Franklin Society (BFS) is our leadership unrestricted annual giving group. These distinguished donors make gifts and pledge payments totaling $2,500 or more to annual giving funds across Penn Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania in a given fiscal year. Through their generosity and vision, members of the Benjamin Franklin Society exemplify the university founder's belief in impactful philanthropy and serve as an inspiration to fellow donors.

Benjamin Franklin Society members receive invitations to Benjamin Franklin Society recognition events, special receptions with leading scientists and clinicians, and other exclusive opportunities.

BFS donors have a powerful impact on Penn Medicine because their gifts create opportunities to be flexible, focus on a previously understudied area of research, test better practices that lead to best practices in the future. At the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Penn Medicine Rittenhouse, and other Penn centers across the region, BFS donors serve the community by supporting innovative research that leads to extraordinary care and life-changing cures.

BFS levels of support include

  • Ambassador: $25,000 and above
  • Founder: $10,000—$24,999
  • Fellow: $5,000—$9,999
  • Associate: $2,500—$4,999

Please continue your support of the great advancements made at Penn Medicine every day by becoming, and remaining, a member of the Benjamin Franklin Society. We know that the future of medicine is dependent on partnership with supporters like you.
