Penn Medicine Blood Donation Center

Make a Difference. Give Blood.

All members of the community and hospital visitors are invited to donate blood at the Penn Medicine Blood Donation Center. The Center was established in 2009 to help ensure that patients being treated throughout Penn Medicine would have blood products readily available when required.

Each year, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania transfuses over 60,000 blood products to trauma, surgical, cancer and other patients in need. The blood that is donated at the Center is used to treat patients at this facility, and ensures a continuous, uninterrupted supply of blood.

One out of every 10 patients needs a blood transfusion. The donors at the Penn Medicine Blood Donation Center make a difference in the lives of all those who are in desperate need of a blood transfusion.
