General Gastroenterology Consultation
The right diagnosis is the first step in successfully
treating digestive problems. The symptoms of
many gastrointestinal (GI) problems are very
similar, and the symptoms of other diseases may
be masked, according to David
Metz, MD, associate chief of Penn's GI division
for clinical affairs.
The extensive resources at Penn provide physicians
with a wide array of tools for diagnosing GI
problems, from endoscopy, colonoscopy and radiological
studies to the more advanced endoscopic retrograde
cholangiopancreatography, manometry,
breath testing and endoscopic
ultrasound.
Penn's gastroenterology physicians evaluate
and treat disorders of the gastrointestinal
tract and liver at several locations throughout
the University of Pennsylvania Health System.
Attending physicians are experts across the
spectrum of digestive and liver disorders.
Our team
collaborates closely to provide definitive diagnosis
or second opinion and a plan for treatment.
All three sites provide the same high quality
from physicians who are all members of Penn's
Gastroenterology Division.
