Geriatric medicine at Penn offers the following services and programs:

Truman Schnabel House Calls Program
When physical limitations make a visit to one of our practices impossible, our House Calls program offers patients the exceptional care of Penn geriatrics in their own home. Nurse practitioners and physicians provide complete primary care for the homebound patient on a temporary or permanent basis. Care coordination with additional agencies, medical equipment and social work is led by experienced geriatric medicine practitioners to maintain successful living at home.

Acute Care for Elders (ACE) Unit
The ACE unit, located at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, is Penn's specially designed hospital unit for older adults. Penn's ACE Unit, first such unit in the Philadelphia region, is a leader in providing specialized, comprehensive and interdisciplinary care for older adults. An experienced team of geriatric medicine physicians, nurses, therapists and social workers provide cutting-edge geriatric care and create a comfortable environment dedicated to the unique needs of elderly patients and their families.

Penn's ACE Unit is experienced in treating problems unique to older adults and preventing functional loss often associated with hospitalization. The ACE team guides patients through the discharge process to ensure the best post-hospital experience possible. Penn geriatric medicine physicians also admit to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, consistently ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals.

Ralston Penn Clinic for Osteoporosis and Related Bone Disorders
The Ralston Penn Clinic for Osteoporosis and Related Bone Disorders treats patients with osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. The physicians at the clinic treat the full spectrum of common bone diseases, including primary and secondary osteoporosis, osteomalacia and Paget's disease of bone. Patients receive comprehensive evaluation, skeletal history analysis and bone density assessment.

Penn Memory Center
The Penn Memory Center is the patient care and research component of the Penn Alzheimer's Disease Center. Here, individuals age 50 and older come for a thorough evaluation and treatment of symptoms of age-related memory loss, and related changes in thinking, communication and personality.

Sleep Disorders Clinic for Seniors
The Sleep Disorders Clinic for Seniors evaluates and treats older patients with a variety of unique medical conditions that interfere with restful sleep. Our physicians are specialty trained in sleep medicine with expertise in treating older adults.

Consultation visits take place at Ralston Penn Center. Sleep laboratory diagnostic services are provided at the Penn Sleep Centers.
