Offers Transfusion-Free Heart Surgery
Transfusion-free cardiac surgery is now available at Penn. Patients
receive no blood or blood products during the procedure, reducing the
risk of complications and a long hospital stay.
Pennsylvania Hospital is a national leader in bloodless
surgery. At the Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery (CBMS), blood
management techniques and minimally invasive surgical procedures are
available as transfusion-free alternatives to any patient who wants it

More people than ever before are surviving cancer thanks to
early detection and advances in treatments. To help cancer survivors
enjoy the best possible quality of life following treatment, the
Abramson Cancer Center at the University of Pennsylvania developed the
Living Well After Cancer Program.
The goal of the program is to help cancer survivors
understand treatment-related issues affecting their health and
well-being. The program also identifies ways to minimize and control
the potential impact of these adverse effects. This nationally
