Interim Leadership in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health
After years of outstanding leadership at Penn, Marjorie Bowman, MD, MPH, will be assuming the role of Dean at the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University. We are both proud of and delighted for Marjorie and wish her every success with this next step in her career. With Marjorie’s departure at the end of this month, there will be interim leadership in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health pending the recruitment of a permanent successor.
We are pleased to announce two appointments which will serve to ensure continued momentum in the Department, and to assist Penn Medicine leadership in optimally leveraging the strengths of the Department in relation to our community health activity and partnerships, as recommended by the strategic planning process.
Richard Neill, MD, currently Vice Chair for the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and Chief of Family Medicine at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center will also assume the role of Interim Chief of Professional Services for the Department. In these capacities, Dr. Neill will have oversight of the operations and financial management of the Department’s clinical activities.
Brian Strom, MD, MPH, Executive Vice Dean for Institutional Affairs, will assume the added responsibility of Interim Chair of the Department during this period of transition. In addition to providing support for Dr. Neill, Dr. Strom will oversee the Department’s academic missions and matters related to faculty development.
We are most grateful to Drs. Neill and Strom for agreeing to serve in these capacities during this important time and we look forward to working with them in the months ahead.
