Center for Implantable Hearing DevicesImplantation of a cochlear prosthesis aids the profoundly deaf. The department has an active cochlear implantation program, including surgical placement of the device and intensive rehabilitation. Penn is the most experienced cochlear implant program in the region. Our program began in the 1980s, with the first implant devices available. We continue to actively participate in research and clinical trials, assisting in the development of the devices of the future. We offer the depth of having multiple implant audiologists and surgeons on staff. Thus, our program will always be able to meet the needs of our patients. Penn will be there as science expands into other forms of implantable hearing devices. We are the only regional program with sufficient expertise to offer our patients the choice of implants from all three manufacturers. For More Information:
