Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center

Making a Gift to the Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center

Since its founding in 1980, the Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center's focus has been on prevention and treatment – with emphasis on providing patients with diabetes, pre-diabetes, and other endocrine problems access to the most sophisticated diagnostic and treatment methods. In our continuing efforts to improve treatment, Penn investigators at the Rodebaugh Diabetes Center conduct research and clinical trials, translating their findings into the best possible patient care.

Private philanthropy is essential in responding to the epidemic of diabetes, obesity, and metabolic disorders. Your generosity provides us with greater resources to fast-track scientific discovery and offer state-of-the-art patient care. No matter what size donation we receive – from $25 to $25,000 – your contribution directly impacts many lives both now and in the future.

Ways to Direct Your Gift
You can direct your gift to the following uses, among others:

Where it is Needed Most

Unrestricted contributions allow our Board of Trustees the flexibility to direct funding to areas where the need is the greatest.

Diabetes Research

Penn researchers are at the forefront of discovery. Our multidisciplinary basic research programs focus on unraveling the biologic, biochemical and genetic processes that underlie the development of type 1 and type 2 diabetes and related complications.

Patient and Family Education

Comprehensive and remedial education is the key to effectively managing diabetes. Our state-of-the-art Center provides instruction to patients and their families on many topics including:

  • carbohydrate counting
  • proper insulin dosing
  • insulin correction for hyperglycemia
  • insulin pumps
  • coping with depression

Special Occasion or Tribute Gifts

Tribute gifts are a valuable and memorable way to commemorate a special occasion such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or to honor someone special such as a teacher, your doctor or a good neighbor. These gifts also help to support diabetes research and patient care. We will notify the gift recipient of your generosity.

Memorial Gifts

A gift honoring a family member, friend or co-worker who has passed on is a lovely tribute to that person's memory. These gifts are especially appreciated by their loved ones. We will notify the appropriate person of your generosity.

Named Funds

A gift of $25,000 or more establishes a fund named in your honor or that of a loved one. Your gift also enables you to direct resources to specific patient care or research initiatives, new pilot programs, faculty support, or education programs for our patients and their families. The pledge may be paid over multiple years.
