Whole Body Photography
Penn Dermatology is dedicated to the prevention,
diagnosis and treatment of malignant melanoma.
As the only academic medical center-based whole
body photography program in the Philadelphia
region, Penn offers patients professional quality
photographs in a private studio environment.
Our trained medical photographer uses precise
camera placement and the very latest digital
imaging technology to produce consistent, high-quality
pictures.
What is Whole Body Photography?
Whole Body Photography (WBP) is a process that
documents the skin through a series of photographs – once
every five to seven years. Dermatologists recommend
WBP as a tool to track changes in the skin's
appearance. WBP can reveal new moles or changes
in existing moles, allowing for early diagnosis
of melanoma – when
it is the most curable. It can also prevent unnecessary
removal of moles.
