The hematology/oncology fellowship program at Penn is designed to provide our trainees with the tools they need to pursue lifelong careers characterized by clinical and research excellence, innovation and commitment to an academic career. The Division aims to ensure that trainees completing our program become leaders in hematology/oncology, whether they pursue careers in clinical, health services, translational, population science or bench research.
Penn fellows can train in their 2nd and 3rd years in a broad array of basic science laboratories or Master's degree programs across our large and diverse campus. Our fellows work in Departments and Schools throughout the University of Pennsylvania, as well as the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the Abramson Cancer Center, the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute and the Wistar Institute.
Research programs in classical hematology include the Penn-CHOP Blood Disorders Center for Patient Care and Discovery, the Comprehensive Sickle Cell Disease Program, the Comprehensive Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Program.

Research Training
The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania benefits from more than 70 NIH T32 awards that support post-doctoral trainees at Penn, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Wistar Institute. The majority of our fellows receive support for their research training (in years two and three) through these grants.
