Before Surgery
Prior to bariatric surgery, there are a series
of evaluations that need to be completed. The
following checklist will help to ensure that each
aspect of the preoperative evaluation is completed.

- Obtain preoperative medical and/or cardiology
consultation for surgical clearance.

you may have been assigned.

the initial consultation.

program coordinator.

Medically Supervised Weight Loss Program
Whether you are required to lose weight to qualify
for surgery, or you just want to improve your
health before surgery, you may join a medically
supervised low-carbohydrate weight loss program
at Pennsylvania Hospital.
While you may have been unsuccessful trying
low-carb diets by yourself, outcomes are improved
by this program’s four tenets:
- structure
- guidance
- encouragement
- accountability
The comradery of a small group setting helps
provide additional motivation. Research studies
show that people lose weight more rapidly,
and lose more total fat and abdominal
fat on a low carb diet than on a high-carb/low-fat
diet.
The diet meets most of the new USDA nutritional
guidelines. Please call 215-829-7888 for more
information.
