Department of Anesthesiology
The Department of Anesthesiology provides clinical
anesthesia services for patients undergoing operations
or diagnostic studies at Pennsylvania Hospital.
Anesthesiologists work in conjunction with other
hospital physicians to provide anesthesia for
surgery and obstetrics, including 24-hour in-house
coverage for emergency surgery and obstetrical
analgesia and anesthesia.
The hospital's anesthesiologists use the latest
technologies and new medications, including continuous
infusion techniques for intravenous anesthesia.
The Pain
Center is devoted to acute and chronic
pain management for both inpatients and outpatients.
