The field of allergy and immunology encompasses a broad spectrum of disorders including the common IgE-mediated allergic diseases, immunodeficiency, drug interactions and autoimmune disorders.
A thorough clinical experience in allergy involves extensive outpatient experience. In this manner, the trainee will develop specialized skills that help insure a consultative role in the competitive managed care environment. Therefore, special clinics devoted to aspects of the allergy and immunology fields have been organized. There is also exposure to training from members of the Departments of Otorhinolaryngology and Dermatology.
Research training involves hands-on experience, and instruction in study design, data and statistical analysis and guidance in preparing data for presentation and publication.
