Buprenorphine Treatment

Buprenorphine, a medication that eases the suffering associated with opiate withdrawal, has recently been approved for use by physicians with special credentials and is now available at Penn Addiction Medicine. The medication can be administered on an outpatient basis under close medical supervision.

Detoxification and maintenance therapy are possible with buprenorphine. Potential candidates include individuals who use any of the following opiates, or others, on a regular basis:

  • Heroin
  • Demerol
  • Morphine
  • Percocet
  • Vicodin
  • Oxycodone
  • Hydrocodone
  • Dilaydid
  • MS Contin
  • Oxy Contin
  • Duragesic Patch
